Employee Spotlight: Josephine Nacu
Professional Journey
Josephine has been with Consentia for an impressive 13 years, having joined in January 2011. Originally hailing from the Philippines, she brought a wealth of professional experience to Canada when she moved here with her family in 2004. In her early career, Josephine was a certified public accountant and worked in manufacturing and construction, eventually focusing on audits and systems.
After settling in Canada, she took on bookkeeping and administrative roles for her brother’s architecture business before a family connection brought Consentia into her life. Her sister-in-law mentioned an opening at Consentia, sparking Josephine’s entry into the world of document digitization—a field she hadn’t considered but quickly grew to love.
Josephine fondly remembers her first days at Consentia, appreciating the company’s welcoming culture and the diversity of projects that made every day different. Starting as a records clerk, she was soon hooked, intrigued by the meticulous and detail-oriented work of digitizing documents. A mentor and former team lead helped Josephine grow in her early days, teaching her not just the technical skills but also the resilience and work ethic that would shape her path forward. This early guidance empowered Josephine to take on new challenges and, ultimately, leadership.
Taking on Challenges
Josephine’s role has evolved significantly over the years. She was initially responsible for records management, performing indexing, quality checks, rescans, and audits. Her eye for detail and strong work ethic caught the attention of her supervisors, and in 2015, she was promoted to Team Lead. Since then, she has led multiple high-profile projects, taking ownership of all aspects and processes. Today, Josephine leads a team of over 30 employees, managing several long-term and high-priority projects with efficiency and dedication.
She is known not only for her ability to handle complex projects but also for her dedication to her team. Josephine is passionate about training and mentoring new team members, guiding them through the intricate workflows and helping them gain confidence in their roles.
She prides herself in being a calm and supportive leader, who creates an environment where every voice is heard, and collaboration is encouraged. Rather than relying on authority, Josephine leads by example, tackling daily challenges with a positive attitude and instilling the same in her team.
An Eye for Excellence
Josephine has been recognized for her contributions to Consentia, receiving a “Top Performer Award” in acknowledgment of her unwavering commitment and positive impact on the company. One of her proudest achievements is maintaining a perfect record for client satisfaction on Consentia’s long-term project for an energy regulatory organization, consistently delivering high-quality work that has strengthened Consentia’s reputation and client relationships. She approaches each project with the same level of detail, whether it’s a small, daily task or a large-scale initiative, ensuring that her team meets or exceeds client expectations.
The Motivation Behind Her Work
For Josephine, staying motivated comes naturally. She finds inspiration in her team and in seeing new hires develop their skills and reach their potential. “I love training people,” she shares, “seeing them grow from knowing nothing to being able to do everything on their own.”
She admits that her role can sometimes be busy, particularly during peak project times, but she finds balance by enjoying the small moments and camaraderie within the team. Motivating others, she says, keeps her motivated too, creating a positive cycle that energizes everyone. She also prioritizes maintaining a strong relationship with her clients, especially those with ongoing projects and takes pride in Consentia’s reputation for dependable, high-quality service.
The Consentia Community
The culture at Consentia plays a big role in Josephine’s day-to-day happiness. She looks forward to annual traditions, particularly the company’s Christmas parties and gift exchange, which brings everyone together to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and fosters a sense of family among colleagues. These gatherings, she says, help create lasting connections and a supportive atmosphere, making Consentia feel like a second home.
Beyond the Workplace
Outside of work, Josephine is a mother of three and a regular contributor to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, a cause close to her heart. In her free time, she enjoys watching true crime and mystery shows, indulging in everything from Criminal Minds to classic game shows like The Price is Right. Her tastes also lean toward action films, particularly heist thrillers, which allow her to unwind and escape after a busy day.
A proud Filipino, Josephine brings values of hospitality and generosity to her role at Consentia, helping her team feel appreciated and supported.
Josephine’s journey at Consentia is a story of growth, resilience, and leadership. From records clerk to trusted team lead, she embodies Consentia’s values and continues to make a meaningful impact, creating a lasting legacy of dedication, teamwork, and excellence.
