Employee Spotlight: Liz
Professional Journey
At Consentia, we believe our team’s strength is the foundation of our success, and Liz, our Director of Operations, is a true reflection of that belief. With a career that spans almost seven years at Consentia, Liz has grown alongside the company, stepping into new roles and challenges with a calm confidence, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to people.
Liz’s path into the industry wasn’t exactly planned. She was recruited by a manager who saw leadership potential in her and needed someone to lead a contract. “I came in completely green. No experience in records management,” said Liz. But what she lacked in technical knowledge at the time, she made up for with strong leadership skills and an eagerness to learn.
Liz eventually stepped into the role of Operations Manager after taking some time away. That return marked the beginning of a transformative chapter not just for her but for the entire company.
While at first she was mainly focused on daily operations, Liz’s role has grown significantly over time. “My work used to be very hands-on and rooted in the day-to-day. Now, it’s strategic and focused on long-term planning, growth, and building relationships,” she explains. This evolution mirrors the company’s growth trajectory. With the help of Liz’s leadership, Consentia expanded from a 25-person team to nearly 90, won back major contracts, and introduced new leadership training initiatives shaping the next generation of team leads.
Balancing Leadership and Operations
One of Liz’s strongest qualities is her grounded approach to leadership. She credits a former mentor for teaching her the importance of humility, active listening, and staying truly connected to the team. That influence is evident in how Liz leads today: with empathy, transparency, and a strong focus on team engagement. “I go around every morning to say hi to everyone,” Liz shares. “It’s small, but meaningful. On the days I miss it, I notice.”
While Liz focuses a lot on the company’s growth, her daily work involves a surprising amount of math and spreadsheets. “People might not realize how data-heavy the role of operations is,” she says. “We’re constantly tracking metrics to ensure our projects are on target.”
Of course, leadership isn’t without its challenges. For Liz, one of the toughest parts of her job is ensuring project stability and workload consistency, especially in a business where fluctuating contracts can impact staffing.
“It’s hard when we know business is coming, but we risk losing talented, trained people during a slower period. That’s a real challenge,” she says. “But it’s also a motivator because it drives me to keep pushing for more opportunities.”
Another motivation for Liz is her passion for seeing people grow. “I love mentoring. When someone develops new skills, receives a promotion or even moves on to their dream job, I’m proud to have been part of that journey.”
When asked what she’s most proud of, Liz doesn’t name a single moment, but rather the broader arc of growth and resilience the company has experienced. “Growing the team from 25 to nearly 90 people in just a few years, and being able to tell that story to people is powerful. It’s a real ‘wow’ moment. And our team has been key to that.”
Another milestone close to her heart? Winning back a major contract and turning around a formerly unhappy client relationship into one built on trust and success. “We were told it was one of the smoothest transitions they’d seen. That stuck with me.”
To anyone just starting in this field, Liz offers this advice: “Be open. Nothing we do is ‘standard’, so you have to come in ready to learn, adapt, and grow. Don’t expect to master it all in a week. Give yourself time.”
What Makes Consentia Special?
Without hesitation, Liz points to the culture. “Consentia is incredibly diverse, and that’s our strength. People are excited to share their culture, and everyone is open to learning from one another. That kind of environment doesn’t just happen, it’s cultivated.”
Beyond the Office
Outside of Consentia, Liz shares her voice in a different way. She’s a proud member of a community choir that performs shows and volunteers by singing at extended care facilities. “It’s something that brings me joy and lets me give back in a meaningful way,” she says.
She’s also passionate about equity in employment and works with organizations that help neurodivergent individuals and others facing barriers to employment find meaningful work opportunities at Consentia.
A Lasting Impact
Liz’s story is one of personal growth, strategic leadership, and connections. She’s helped shape the culture and operations at Consentia not just by what she does, but by how she does it: with empathy, foresight, and a focus on people.
As Consentia continues to grow and innovate, Liz remains a vital part of that momentum, empowering her team, leading with heart, and proving that success isn’t just about metrics; it’s also about making a difference in people’s lives.
